What began as a sustained enquiry through photography has recently expanded into a more polymathic and intermedial practice, encompassing photography, projection, and returning to painting, critical essays and performance poetry.
Elements of my work explore the performance of inherited hegemonic masculinity within a historically patriarchally controlled community in rural Derbyshire. It considers how expectations of strength, labour, usefulness and endurance are passed between generations, becoming embedded in both identity and place.
