We are pleased to announce that The Hyde Gallery is representing Gillian Brett at the British Art Fair, 24 – 27 September, Stand 36.

For British Art Fair 2026, The Hyde Gallery presents From Material to Digital – and Back, an exploration of how we experience beauty in an increasingly digital world.

At the centre of the stand sits Gillian Brett’s Life online collection. Small figures, cast in cold-cast bronze, sit absorbed in their screens – looking down, scrolling, connected digitally yet seemingly disconnected from the physical world around them. Brett uses traditional sculptural processes to address one of the most contemporary aspects of human behaviour.

Around them, the walls offer everything the figures fail to notice.[1]

The theme, From Material to Digital – and Back, is very resonant right now as we navigate rapid changes in technology that affects all our lives. More and more, it seems we feel a nostalgia for the material. Not because the technology or objects we once used, like cassette tapes or princess phones, are obsolete and no longer used, but it is a nostalgia for a material world we see disappearing that we are powerless to stop. Gillian Brett’s Life Online collection featured by The Hyde Gallery at the British Art Fair speaks to this nostalgia and our powerlessness to prevent these changes taking place.
